INNERWORLD

The concept of this living space in form of a hostel refers basically on integrating the environment and the nature into the built structure. By splitting the volume in two and elevating the upper part on columns it created an open space between, which is networking with the surrounding structers and draws the city into the building. By organizing the levels around inner yards the building is orientated completly to the inside.

Entering the object from south across a little forecourt leads into a lobby with the reception and a bar, which is opend to the court in the south and also to our inner courtyard which is diveded into 3 parts on this level. Some of the other functions placed on this storey are a restaurant, with its kitchen and the breakfast area, some storages, the administration with staffrooms, technical rooms and a laundry. The upper floors of the building, which are dedicated to the dorm rooms of the hostel can be reached by 2 elevators or stairs.

These dorm rooms are all oriented to the nature in the middle of the structure which is surrounded by the traffic areas of each floor. We interpreted these traffic areas in an alternative way and made them also part of the rooms, beacause of the fact that these are the areas were the movement takes place, they have a realy great potential to become a place to meet new and interesting people. So the dorm rooms can be extended from a privat space into the traffic area to become communicative spaces.
